Summer of Grace

The summer in the city where I live has been intense, with days of extreme heat and rain, reminding us that the heavens, the storms, and the sun display the great power and glory of our God.

These have been months filled with many activities.

At my local church, I have been serving more frequently by helping with the Spanish translation of our services. Thanks be to God, more Spanish-speaking people are attending on Sundays. Being able to translate the service is one way of serving those whom God is bringing to our church and helping them hear His Word clearly.

I also started a new hobby: making different kinds of bread for my family and friends. It has become a time of much learning and eventually turned into a small bakery. You can follow the Instagram account @saborygraciakitchen, where week after week I share the different kinds of bread I make, along with a few desserts.

At the same time, I have also been spending a lot of time meditating on the Word of God. I began spending time in the Gospels, particularly the Gospel of John, one of my favorite books of the Bible. The apostle John shows us so much about God that I have been writing many notes, asking questions, and going deeper in my knowledge of God and His saving work.

At the beginning of the year, I also started a new job, and that has kept me busy as I continue settling into my new responsibilities.

James is entering the college stage! My son James graduated from high school this past May, and now he is beginning college, where he will study Electrical and Systems Engineering at Rutgers University. Watching our children grow is one of the most beautiful experiences we have as parents.

As I reflect on all these things, I can see how the grace of God, in His providence, allows us to live every part of life in a way where we can recognize Him in everything we do—in our work, our family, our service in the church, and even our personal interests.
